DMK working president M.K. Stalin issued a pointed critique of the ruling dispensation on September 7, 2017, observing that governance across Tamil Nadu had deteriorated from the roof down to its very foundation. Stalin stated that public administration was experiencing unprecedented paralysis because state ministers remained exclusively preoccupied with preserving factional power and currying political favor with the Union government. Routine public service delivery, civic infrastructure maintenance, and grievance redressal mechanisms had ground to a complete halt across district collectorates.
Stalin highlighted that while ordinary families endured severe inflationary pressure, agricultural distress, and widespread rural unemployment, government departments suffered from pervasive corruption and policy drift. Decisions concerning urgent public health needs, water security, and municipal flood prevention were repeatedly ignored. The leader affirmed that the public had lost all faith in an unrepresentative administration that clung to office through backroom maneuvers rather than legislative strength.
The DMK leader assured citizens that the existing decay was temporary and would be decisively reversed. He affirmed that the DMK was preparing a transparent, citizen-centric administrative framework capable of restoring executive efficiency and economic dignity across Tamil Nadu.
