DMK working president M.K. Stalin took part in a massive all-party demonstration in Chennai on September 13, 2017, registering fierce opposition against the lethal imposition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Leaders from diverse political organizations, student unions, and civil rights groups joined hands to condemn the Union and Tamil Nadu governments for driving bright students to despair and suicide, citing the heartbreaking death of Dalit medical aspirant S. Anitha. Stalin declared that NEET functioned as an institutional death trap that extinguished rural students' dreams.
Stalin emphasized that the unified agitation reflected the collective sorrow and boiling indignation of eight crore Tamils against New Delhi's educational tyranny. Tamil Nadu had eliminated entrance examinations in 2006 under Kalaignar Karunanidhi to democratize medical access, allowing thousands of rural students and first-generation learners to become qualified doctors. Reintroducing a centralized examination based on alien syllabi ruthlessly demolished social justice and state legislative authority.
The DMK leader vowed that the opposition alliance would escalate democratic protests across every district until Tamil Nadu obtained permanent statutory exemption from NEET. He declared that justice for Anitha remained an uncompromised struggle.
