DMK working president M.K. Stalin hailed the outcome of the Tamil Nadu Bharat Scouts and Guides presidential election on September 16, 2017, describing it as an inspiring victory of dedicated public service over raw governmental intimidation. Stalin noted that despite the ruling dispensation deploying extensive administrative machinery and political influence to capture the voluntary organization, voting members decisively rejected official coercion. He expressed deep confidence that this principled triumph would reinvigorate the student movement and foster character, discipline, and civic responsibility among youth.
Stalin pointed out that educational and voluntary organizations like the Scouts and Guides movement must function independently, free from partisan interference and state co-optation. For decades, the movement trained generations of young school pupils in community service, disaster response, and ethical citizenship. Attempting to reduce such noble youth development platforms into political fiefdoms reflected the ruling regime's unhealthy obsession with institutional monopolization across Tamil Nadu.
The DMK leader expressed genuine hope that the newly elected leadership would prioritize students' holistic development, character building, physical education, and moral self-reliance. He reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast support for autonomous student organizations and dedicated voluntary educational bodies.
