DMK working president M.K. Stalin delivered a rousing ideological address on September 16, 2017, during the grand DMK Mupperum Vizha held in Dindigul. Commemorating the birth anniversaries of Dravidian icons Thanthai Periyar E.V. Ramasamy and Perarignar C.N. Annadurai alongside the founding day of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Stalin declared that preserving social justice and restoring state rights constituted the foremost duty of every cadre. He stressed that the DMK was created as an emancipatory social movement rather than an ordinary electoral organization.

Stalin highlighted that the contemporary political environment witnessed aggressive assaults against federalism, backward class reservations, and linguistic heritage. Centralizing policies sought to dismantle state-level welfare architectures built over decades through sustained Dravidian struggles. He urged party functionaries and the broader public to draw inspiration from Periyar's uncompromising self-respect philosophy and Anna's parliamentary statesmanship to resist regressive cultural and political subjugation.

The DMK leader reiterated the party's historic resolve to protect regional linguistic dignity, defend communal reservation safeguards, and champion democratic state autonomy. He urged younger generations to imbibe rationalist ideals and lead the resurgence of progressive secular politics across Tamil Nadu.
