DMK working president M.K. Stalin issued a resolute warning on September 16, 2017, declaring that if judicial remedies failed to dislodge the corrupt AIADMK regime, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam would lead a massive popular uprising across Tamil Nadu. Addressing public gatherings, Stalin stated that the incumbent administration had lost its legislative majority following open rebellions by ruling MLAs and survived only through horse-trading and constitutional misuse. He emphasized that the Governor's refusal to order an immediate floor test constituted a severe breach of established parliamentary jurisprudence.
Stalin pointed out that constitutional democracy draws its fundamental legitimacy from popular consent and legislative confidence. An unrepresentative minority dispensation retained executive power through illicit inducements and administrative manipulation, paralyzing state development and alienating millions of citizens. While the DMK approached the Madras High Court to enforce constitutional mandates, Stalin affirmed that the party's ultimate court of appeal remained the sovereign electorate.
The DMK leader asserted that if institutional mechanisms were subverted to protect power-hungry factions, the party would mobilize workers, students, farmers, and civil society for statewide peaceful demonstrations. He declared that autocratic rule could never withstand united popular resistance.
