DMK working president M.K. Stalin announced on September 18, 2017, that a historic Social Justice Resolution had been formally adopted under the venerable leadership of DMK President Muthamizharignar Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi and General Secretary Professor K. Anbazhagan. The comprehensive resolution reiterated the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's uncompromising ideological mission to safeguard caste-based affirmative action, uphold backward classes' educational rights, and resist central attempts to dilute reservation through national entrance testing frameworks like NEET.

Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian movement was founded upon the unshakeable bedrock of social emancipation and institutional equality for oppressed and marginalized communities. For nearly a century, from the Justice Party's pioneering communal government order of 1921 to Kalaignar's historic expansion of reservation categories to sixty-nine percent, the movement championed affirmative policies that transformed Tamil Nadu into a progressive welfare powerhouse. The new resolution reaffirmed these principles amidst emerging national challenges.

The DMK leader called upon party cadres, social justice organizations, and democratic allies across India to unite in defending constitutional affirmative action. He pledged that the DMK would continue leading nationwide efforts to preserve backward class and Dalit entitlements.
