DMK working president M.K. Stalin reiterated with firm resolve on September 22, 2017, that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam would relentlessly pursue a comprehensive Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the mysterious demise of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. Stalin stated that mounting public suspicion, conflicting medical declarations, and evasive statements by ruling ministers necessitated an authoritative, independent inquiry free from political patronage. He underlined that the truth surrounding the governance crisis during her extended hospitalization could not be concealed forever.
Stalin pointed out that democratic governance demands uncompromised administrative transparency, particularly when the head of a state government passes away under ambiguous circumstances. The people of Tamil Nadu, regardless of their political affiliations, were entitled to know the exact nature of medical decisions made, the authority under which official files were approved, and whether proper medical advice was followed. Attempting to suppress these critical facts through superficial departmental inquiries insulted public intelligence.
The DMK leader affirmed that the party would explore all constitutional, legal, and parliamentary avenues to secure a court-monitored CBI inquiry. He pledged that the DMK would never let the issue be buried.
