DMK working president M.K. Stalin expressed profound shock on September 24, 2017, over the public confession by a senior AIADMK minister confirming persistent suspicions regarding former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's hospitalization and death. Stalin pointed out that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had consistently demanded transparency from the moment the Chief Minister was hospitalized in September 2016. The minister's public apology for fabricating stories about her recovery and dietary intake completely demolished the credibility of previous official medical bulletins issued by the government.
