DMK working president M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive evening inspection across various flood-affected localities within his Kolathur assembly constituency on November 6, 2017. Stalin walked through inundated streets and residential lanes, assessing the impact of heavy monsoon downpours on local households, small commercial establishments, and daily wage earners. He interacted directly with constituent families, inquiring about their immediate welfare and distributing food packages, potable drinking water, and bedding supplies.

Stalin inspected local stormwater canals and drainage culverts, identifying bottlenecks where silt accumulation and uncollected civic garbage obstructed natural stormwater flow. He instructed Greater Chennai Corporation officials on the spot to immediately deploy super-sucker machines, mobile pumps, and earthmovers to clear clogged drains and accelerate water recession. He also supervised local DMK youth volunteers working actively to clear debris and assist marooned families.

The DMK leader emphasized that as an elected representative, his foremost moral duty was to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his constituents during challenging crises.
