DMK working president M.K. Stalin extended warm felicitations on December 11, 2017, to eminent agricultural scientist Professor M.S. Swaminathan on being conferred the prestigious Yerarignar award. Stalin praised Professor Swaminathan's pioneering scientific contributions to agricultural research and food security, recognizing agriculture as the foundational backbone of the Indian nation. He highlighted Swaminathan's vision of sustainable farming and scientific innovations that transformed national food production.

This fruitful partnership yielded transformative welfare initiatives for Tamil Nadu farmers, including farmer welfare boards, comprehensive irrigation reforms, and progressive agrarian policies. The DMK leadership always held scientific advancement and farmer prosperity as interconnected goals vital for rural empowerment.

The DMK leader reiterated the party's enduring commitment to implementing Swaminathan Committee recommendations, especially ensuring remunerative minimum support prices for agricultural produce.
