DMK working president M.K. Stalin intensified his door-to-door election outreach in the Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency on December 18, 2017, undertaking his second consecutive day of intensive campaigning. Addressing dense neighborhood gatherings, Stalin highlighted the glaring paradox that R.K. Nagar remained under AIADMK control for seventeen long years, enjoying VIP constituency status while former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa represented it in the assembly. Despite those high-profile years, the locality received negligible developmental attention and remained plagued by acute civic deficiencies.
Stalin questioned how the very politicians who failed to deliver basic drinking water, proper drainage, housing rights, and hygienic living conditions over two decades could suddenly promise miraculous transformation today. He noted that the ruling party viewed the constituency merely as a vehicle for political power rather than a community deserving dignity, infrastructure, and responsive governance.
The DMK leader promised that DMK candidate Maruthu Ganesh, who lived among the local people as an approachable grassroots worker, would champion their everyday concerns inside the legislative assembly. Stalin urged voters to see through hollow electoral pledges and vote for principled change. He reiterated the DMK's commitment to modernizing north Chennai's long-neglected infrastructure.
