It is extremely disturbing to see hooligans masquerading as protesters, attack school children. The deafening silence of Central and BJP ruled State Govts in the face of such lawlessness is detestable. I seek immediate intervention to protect public from these extremist elements.
DMK working president M.K. Stalin voiced deep shock and outrage on January 25, 2018, following reports of violent vigilante mobs attacking a school bus carrying young children during nationwide protests. Stalin denounced the perpetrators as criminal hooligans masquerading as ideological demonstrators, stressing that targeting innocent schoolchildren is a cowardly and barbaric act that shocks the conscience of civilized society.
Stalin strongly condemned the deafening silence and inaction of the Union government and BJP-ruled state administrations in confronting such lawlessness. He pointed out that allowing fringe extremist outfits to operate with impunity undermines the constitutional rule of law and creates pervasive public insecurity. A responsible state machinery, he argued, must never compromise citizen safety or surrender public order to violent fringe elements for political expediency.
The DMK leader called for immediate, stringent law enforcement intervention to arrest the culprits and guarantee robust protection for school campuses, public transport, and vulnerable citizens. He urged governments to enforce zero tolerance against mob violence regardless of political or sectarian affiliations. Stalin reaffirmed that defending child safety, public peace, and secular order is fundamental to democratic governance.
