DMK working president M.K. Stalin paid a personal solidarity visit on February 19, 2018, to the hospital where IT employee Lavanya was undergoing intensive medical treatment after surviving a horrifying armed robbery attack along the Old Mahabalipuram Road IT corridor in Chennai. Stalin warmly inquired about her medical progress, consoled her distressed family members, and expressed profound admiration for her extraordinary courage and physical resilience in fighting off brutal assailants despite sustaining severe, life-threatening injuries.
Stalin condemned the audacious criminal assault along a major economic corridor as a glaring reflection of deteriorated law and order and deficient police surveillance in suburban industrial zones. He urged the judicial and police administrations to conduct fast-track legal proceedings against the arrested culprits, demanding stringent and exemplary punishment to deter future violent crimes targeting working women.
The DMK leader demanded that the state government provide full financial and medical assistance for Lavanya's complete recovery and rehabilitation. He emphasized the necessity of deploying continuous mobile patrols and bright street lighting across employment corridors to guarantee women's safety. Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will consistently advocate for comprehensive citizen security.
