DMK working president M.K. Stalin urged the Tamil Nadu government on March 9, 2018, to release an immediate public white paper detailing the arguments and positions presented by state officials during the high-level consultative meeting convened in New Delhi regarding the Cauvery dispute. Stalin insisted that complete transparency was essential to prevent administrative confusion and procedural stalling in constituting the Cauvery Management Board within the timeline prescribed by the Supreme Court of India.
Stalin emphasized that the state government must convene an emergency session of the legislative assembly to brief elected representatives on the deliberations in the national capital. He pointed out that farmers and political parties have a democratic right to know whether state officials firmly defended the consensus reached at the recent all-party conclave. Stalin cautioned against secret bureaucratic concessions that could compromise Tamil Nadu's longstanding riparian entitlements.
The DMK leader reiterated that administrative ambiguity only aids central attempts to defer establishing statutory monitoring bodies. He called upon the Chief Minister to place all official records before the public. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will vigilantly safeguard the delta's water rights against backroom compromises.
