DMK working president and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin extended full legislative cooperation on March 15, 2018, as the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly unanimously adopted a special resolution demanding the immediate constitution of the Cauvery Management Board by the Union government. Speaking during the historic assembly debate, Stalin reiterated that the DMK stood ready to support all state initiatives, pledging that all DMK legislators would resign their seats if necessary to defend the rights of Cauvery delta farmers.
Stalin highlighted that the Supreme Court's definitive ruling mandated the establishment of the statutory board within six weeks to ensure fair, institutionalized water releases. He stressed that protecting the agrarian heartland of Tamil Nadu was an existential necessity that rose far above partisan political divisions. Stalin commended the rare legislative consensus achieved on the assembly floor, urging the government to execute follow-up measures with unyielding resolve.
The DMK leader insisted that the state administration lead an all-party delegation to meet the Prime Minister without delay. He reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu's collective political will must remain unbroken, declaring that the DMK will persistently champion agricultural water security.
