DMK working president M.K. Stalin issued a strong condemnation on March 19, 2018, denouncing the Vishwa Hindu Parishad for organizing the controversial Ram Rajya Yatra and rebuking the Tamil Nadu government for granting it official permission. Stalin accused the ruling AIADMK dispensation of acting as a subservient client of the BJP-led central government, facilitating sectarian agendas that directly threaten the longstanding social tranquility and communal harmony of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin emphasized that introducing politically engineered religious processions into the state aims to sow communal discord and disrupt inter-faith solidarity. He stated that the state administration's willingness to yield to external ideological pressures compromised its duty to safeguard citizen safety. Stalin argued that Tamil Nadu's cultural heritage is rooted in brotherhood and peaceful coexistence, values that must not be subordinated to electoral calculations.
The DMK leader called upon all democratic and progressive forces to unite in resisting attempts to alter the state's peaceful social fabric. He warned the government against enabling polarizing events that undermine public order. Stalin reiterated that the DMK will persistently oppose divisive maneuvers, affirming that communal harmony and secularism remain central to regional progress.
