DMK working president M.K. Stalin demanded on March 19, 2018, that the Tamil Nadu government immediately halt the communally charged Ram Rajya Yatra from entering the state, calling for the detention of organizers at the state border and their immediate return to Uttar Pradesh. Stalin pointed out that conducting such provocative religious processions while the Ram Janmabhoomi title dispute remained sub judice before the Supreme Court was legally improper and socially volatile.
Stalin cautioned that allowing politically motivated religious caravans into Tamil Nadu threatened to disrupt regional public order and inflame sectarian tensions. He stressed that maintaining peace and communal harmony should remain the primary administrative responsibility of any accountable state government. Permitting provocative mobilizations, he warned, represents an abdication of governance duty that gambles with citizen safety.
The DMK leader urged the police department to act impartially and enforce the law without bowing to political pressure from central authorities. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu has historically thrived on mutual respect among diverse communities. Stalin pledged that the DMK will stand as an unwavering bulwark defending civil tranquility, social harmony, and the constitutional rule of law.
