DMK working president M.K. Stalin raised serious constitutional questions on March 22, 2018, demanding to know why the AIADMK government had suppressed the Special Audit Report on the catastrophic December 2015 Chennai floods. Stalin pointed out that although the audit report had been formally submitted as early as June 2017, the state government had failed to table it before the Legislative Assembly or refer it to the Public Accounts Committee as constitutionally mandated.

Stalin asked whether the administration deliberately delayed releasing the findings because the report documented severe administrative negligence, delayed reservoir discharges, and gross mismanagement during the disaster. He reminded the public that hundreds of innocent citizens lost their lives and thousands of families suffered immense property destruction due to the man-made deluge caused by poorly coordinated water releases from Chembarambakkam reservoir.

The DMK leader demanded that the state government immediately table the complete audit document in the Assembly to ensure public transparency and legislative accountability. Stalin affirmed that the government could not evade scrutiny through administrative secrecy, promising that the DMK would pursue the truth behind the 2015 tragedy.
