Editorial context

DMK working president M.K. Stalin reaffirmed on March 27, 2018, his unwavering opposition to Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit conducting direct administrative review meetings with district collectors and department officials. Stalin stated that whether during a DMK administration or under the current unstable horse-trading regime, direct executive interventions by a nominated gubernatorial office constituted an unacceptable violation of state autonomy and constitutional federalism.

Stalin emphasized that the Indian Constitution clearly demarcated the powers between an elected state cabinet and the nominal head of state. He explained that allowing a Governor to hold parallel administrative reviews undermined the authority of elected representatives, paralyzed local bureaucracy, and set a dangerous precedent for central encroachment upon provincial governance and federal autonomy.

The DMK leader pointed out that the DMK had consistently registered its formal protest against such unconstitutional and improper review meetings. Stalin declared that defending the democratic mandate of the state legislature was essential to preserve regional democracy. He reaffirmed that the DMK would continue to champion constitutional boundaries and fiercely resist any attempt to reduce state autonomy and democratic authority through gubernatorial overreach.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
