DMK working president M.K. Stalin demanded on March 30, 2018, that the Tamil Nadu government immediately convene a special cabinet meeting to pass an official resolution condemning the central government and Prime Minister for defying the Supreme Court verdict on Cauvery water sharing. Stalin described the BJP and AIADMK leadership as inseparable partners in betrayal whose mutual collusion had severely harmed the agricultural interests of Tamil Nadu.

Stalin insisted that the state cabinet must formally record its strong disapproval of New Delhi's deliberate failure to set up the Cauvery Management Board within the mandated six-week timeline. He also urged the state administration to initiate immediate contempt of court proceedings in the Supreme Court against central authorities responsible for violating constitutional directives.

The DMK leader stressed that empty ministerial statements could not substitute for decisive institutional action. Stalin emphasized that passing a formal government resolution would signal state unity and constitutional determination.
