DMK working president M.K. Stalin severely criticized the ruling AIADMK administration on April 3, 2018, for its political cowardice in attacking opposition parties instead of confronting the central BJP government over its failure to constitute the Cauvery Management Board. Stalin observed that the state government lacked the elementary courage to condemn the Union administration, which had blatantly defaulted on its statutory obligations and betrayed the people of Tamil Nadu.
Stalin stated that the token hunger strike staged by AIADMK ministers and legislators was an empty public relations spectacle that fully exposed their complicity with New Delhi. He pointed out that while delta farmers suffered immense economic ruin, the ruling dispensation in Chennai chose to direct venomous rhetoric against constructive opposition leaders rather than pressing the Prime Minister for immediate compliance.
The DMK leader emphasized that such shameless political subservience had grievously compromised Tamil Nadu's legal stance on interstate river sharing. Stalin affirmed that the public clearly recognized who genuinely fought for their water entitlements. He reiterated that the DMK would continue leading aggressive, uncompromising democratic struggles to secure the mandatory Cauvery board despite government obstinacy.
