DMK working president M.K. Stalin met party worker Deivanayagi in person on April 6, 2018, warmly felicitating her courageous participation in the statewide strike held to demand the Cauvery Management Board. During the widespread agitation in Vellore district, Deivanayagi had gained widespread public attention by single-handedly standing in front of an operating state transport bus, insisting that public vehicles halt operations in solidarity with Tamil Nadu's river rights.
Stalin lauded her exemplary dedication and fearless spirit, noting that grassroots cadres like Deivanayagi formed the true backbone of the Dravidian movement. He observed that her spontaneous intervention illustrated the intense emotional investment and public determination of ordinary women and working families in defending the state's agricultural lifeline against central betrayal.
The DMK leader emphasized that such selfless commitment across districts ensured the total success of the statewide shutdown. Stalin presented her with words of appreciation and encouragement, affirming that the DMK drew immense strength from dedicated cadres willing to step forward peacefully on public streets. He reiterated that the party would continue honoring frontline activists who championed Tamil Nadu's collective interests.
