DMK working president M.K. Stalin visited Sillathur village in Thanjavur district on April 8, 2018, holding direct interactive discussions with local farmers during the second day of the Cauvery Rights Retrieval March. Walking through agrarian hamlets, Stalin listened closely to farmers who described the acute agrarian crisis caused by deficient river flows, dry irrigation canals, and mounting agricultural debts. He commended their endurance and affirmed that the struggle for Cauvery was an existential battle for regional rural livelihoods.

Stalin assured the farming community that the DMK would never abandon their cause or allow their legitimate water entitlements to be sacrificed for political expediency. He pointed out that prompt constitution of the Cauvery Management Board was the only permanent institutional safeguard capable of guaranteeing predictable crop cycles and seasonal irrigation.

The farmers expressed deep gratitude to Stalin for walking through rural fields and championing their vital agrarian concerns directly on the ground. Stalin reiterated that their welfare remained his highest public priority, pledging that the DMK would persist with democratic mobilizations until the central government honored judicial verdicts and restored water security to every delta hamlet.
