DMK working president M.K. Stalin commenced the second day of the historic Cauvery Rights Retrieval March from Thanjavur on April 8, 2018, leading a resolute mobilization to protect the agricultural lifelines of the fertile delta. Addressing agrarian gatherings, Stalin condemned both the central and state governments for their continuous apathy, asserting that their refusal to execute judicial directives threatened to turn Tamil Nadu's traditional rice granary into an arid desert.

During the demonstration, Stalin personally distributed pre-addressed postcards to farmers and local residents to petition the President of India directly. He urged every household across the delta basin to write and demand the immediate establishment of the Cauvery Management Board as mandated by the Supreme Court. Stalin highlighted that collective civic resistance was essential to break administrative inertia in New Delhi.

The initiative received enthusiastic participation from thousands of rural citizens who gathered along the rally route. Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK remained fully dedicated to securing equitable water distribution for regional farmers.
