DMK working president M.K. Stalin remarked on April 11, 2018, that the extraordinary enthusiasm of thousands of farmers and local residents along the Cauvery Rights Retrieval Yatra route completely overshadowed the severe summer heat. Undertaking the fifth day of the continuous foot march across the delta basin, Stalin observed that people lined rural roads in massive numbers to welcome the political delegation.
He stated that the spontaneous participation of farming families, women, and rural workers illustrated how deeply the Cauvery issue touched every household in Tamil Nadu. The intense public reception reinforced the message that the state would never compromise on its legal share of river waters. Stalin remarked that the unbearable midday sun could not dampen the spirit of an agrarian populace fighting for its foundational survival.
Stalin asserted that the immense public energy witnessed along the road sent a clear warning to the BJP-led central government. He emphasized that New Delhi could no longer test the resolve of Tamil Nadu through legal evasions.
