#GoBackModi https://t.co/rGy5yH4FPn

DMK working president M.K. Stalin issued a statement on April 12, 2018, thanking the people of Tamil Nadu for staging an unprecedented black flag protest during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to Chennai. Stalin remarked that the Prime Minister had witnessed a scale of democratic opposition that he had never encountered before in his entire political career.
The statewide demonstration was organized to express deep public indignation against the Union government's calculated failure to constitute the Cauvery Management Board as mandated by the Supreme Court. Thousands of citizens hoisted black flags atop their residences, wore black clothing, and released black balloons into the sky to symbolize regional protest. Stalin noted that the voluntary and peaceful participation of millions demonstrated the unity of Tamil society.
Stalin expressed heartfelt appreciation to all political parties, trade unions, farmers' associations, and youth groups who made the protest an overwhelming success. He emphasized that the powerful demonstration sent a definitive message to New Delhi that Tamil Nadu would not tolerate continuous betrayal of its legitimate water rights and constitutional entitlements. He stated that the unprecedented popular dissent had registered Tamil Nadu's collective anger on the national stage.
