DMK working president M.K. Stalin on April 12, 2018, took part in the grand concluding public meeting of the Cauvery Rights Retrieval Yatra organized in Cuddalore. The massive event marked the successful culmination of a historic statewide march undertaken across the agrarian heartland of Tamil Nadu to assert the state's rightful share in the Cauvery river waters.

Addressing the gathering, Stalin emphasized that the march had successfully energized the farming community and highlighted the severe crisis facing delta agriculture. He reiterated that thousands of party workers and allied leaders had walked through rural villages and towns to awaken public consciousness against the central government's obstinate refusal to notify the Cauvery Management Board. The huge crowd gathered at Cuddalore demonstrated that the demand had transformed into a popular mass movement.

Stalin declared that the conclusion of the foot march was not the end of the agitation, but the beginning of an intensified struggle across the state. He pledged that the DMK and democratic allies would persist with uncompromising political mobilization until the legal rights granted by the Supreme Court were fully realized.
