Today, I join the lakhs of fellow Indians in expressing my grief over the gruesome death of young Aasifa. Though it can never be a consolation, I urge the authorities to bring those guilty to book at the earliest. #justiceforaasifa
DMK working president M.K. Stalin expressed profound sorrow and grief on April 12, 2018, over the horrific abduction, brutal assault, and murder of eight-year-old Asifa in Kathua. Stalin stated that he joined millions of grieving citizens across India who were outraged by the unspeakable cruelty inflicted upon an innocent child.
He observed that while no words of condolence could ever alleviate the agony of the bereaved family, delivering swift and uncompromising justice was the bare minimum duty owed by the state. Stalin urged investigating agencies and judicial authorities to act without fear or favor, bringing every perpetrator involved in the abhorrent conspiracy to the book at the earliest date. He stressed that the rule of law must demonstrate its absolute efficacy in prosecuting crimes that attacked human decency.
The DMK leader warned against any calculated attempt to shield the accused through communal rhetoric or procedural delay. He affirmed that civil society and political leaderships across the country must unite in demanding the harshest punishment under law, ensuring that such barbaric crimes were never repeated in civilized society. He stressed that justice delayed in child sexual offenses amounted to justice completely denied.
