DMK working president M.K. Stalin commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on April 14, 2018, paying rich homage to the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Stalin extolled Ambedkar as a transformative visionary who established the fundamental tenets of social justice, human equality, and equal legal rights for marginalized communities across the country.
Stalin called upon democratic citizens and progressive movements to take a resolute pledge on Ambedkar Jayanti to defend constitutional values against sectarian forces. He expressed deep alarm over systematic efforts by the BJP-led central government to saffronize public institutions, undermine affirmative action, and stoke communal, regional, and linguistic fissures across various states. He asserted that such reactionary politics threatened the core egalitarian principles embedded in the Constitution.
The DMK leader emphasized that Ambedkar's lifelong battle against caste discrimination and social hierarchy remained a permanent beacon for the Dravidian movement. He affirmed that the DMK would remain in the vanguard of defending reservation rights, protecting secular institutions, and resisting cultural homogenization. Stalin concluded that true reverence for Ambedkar's legacy required unyielding struggle against religious intolerance and all forms of discrimination.
