DMK working president M.K. Stalin on April 16, 2018, demanded a comprehensive investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation monitored directly by the Madras High Court into the alarming scandal involving an assistant college professor in Aruppukottai. The academic had been arrested after audio recordings surfaced showing her coercing female undergraduate students to offer sexual favors to higher university officials in exchange for academic scores and financial incentives.
Stalin expressed deep anguish that an educator entrusted with shaping young minds had sought to destroy the lives of female students. He stressed that because the case involved potential links to powerful figures within university administrative circles and state bureaucracy, local police inquiries would prove inadequate and vulnerable to institutional interference.
The DMK leader stated that only an independent probe conducted under high court supervision could inspire confidence among students and parents. He insisted that investigators must uncover the broader network behind the professor's actions and ensure that every influential offender was prosecuted. Stalin emphasized that safeguarding women students on university campuses required absolute transparency and unyielding legal accountability without administrative compromise.
