DMK working president M.K. Stalin expressed profound sorrow and fury on May 2, 2018, over the tragic death of an innocent young boy caused by the uncontrolled operations of a nearby state-run TASMAC liquor outlet. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK regime for transforming Tamil Nadu into an alcoholic state where the administrative machinery spends its creative energy identifying new locations to open liquor shops rather than delivering essential civic welfare.
Stalin highlighted the growing anguish of women, mothers, and families across Tamil Nadu who have repeatedly agitated against the location of liquor shops near residential areas, schools, and worship centers. Instead of listening to peaceful community objections, the administration consistently prioritized monthly alcohol revenue targets over the safety and well-being of citizens. He noted that the loss of a young child's life was a grim testament to the human devastation wrought by this commercial obsession.
Demanding the immediate closure of all TASMAC shops near residential colonies, Stalin asserted that state revenue cannot be built upon the tears of innocent citizens. He insisted that the government formulate a concrete roadmap for phased total prohibition. Stalin affirmed that the DMK remains committed to curbing the liquor menace and protecting families.
