#KaranatakaVerdict
DMK working president M.K. Stalin congratulated B.S. Yediyurappa on May 15, 2018, following the Karnataka legislative assembly election results, while urging the newly incoming state administration to honor interstate riparian duties promptly. Stalin emphasized that the government in Bengaluru must adhere strictly to the final verdict of the Supreme Court of India by releasing Tamil Nadu's legitimate quota of Cauvery river water without delay or regional obstruction.
Stalin pointed out that agricultural livelihoods in the Cauvery delta districts of Tamil Nadu rely entirely on timely water releases from upper-riparian reservoirs. Failure to adhere to adjudicated allocations causes severe agrarian distress, destroying standing crops and causing acute drinking water shortages across multiple districts. He stressed that administrative changes following elections should never disrupt statutory water-sharing obligations established by apex judicial forums.
Urging the Karnataka administration to adopt a constructive, brotherly approach toward neighboring Tamil Nadu, Stalin insisted that respecting interstate water accords is essential for harmonious federal coexistence. He called upon both states to prioritize human needs and agrarian welfare over narrow political posturing. Stalin reiterated that the DMK will stand firm in safeguarding Tamil Nadu's constitutional water entitlements.
