The TN Govt has been unable to give answers to #TuticorinMassacre. We will ensure the protestors' and peoples' voices from Tuticorin are heard in Chennai. Our fight against this #IncompetentEPS Govt will NOT stop till the resignations of the CM and DGP. #SterliteProtest
DMK working president M.K. Stalin declared on May 24, 2018, that the opposition will sustain unceasing agitations until Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and Director General of Police T.K. Rajendran resign over the Thoothukudi massacre. Stalin stated that the state government had completely failed to provide credible answers regarding who authorized security personnel to fire live assault ammunition directly into crowds of peaceful demonstrators.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will ensure the grief and anger of Thoothukudi residents reverberate through the state capital in Chennai. He charged that the AIADMK ministry displayed gross executive incompetence by hiding from the public rather than accepting accountability for the loss of thirteen civilian lives. The opposition leader emphasized that governance loses legitimacy when leaders refuse to face aggrieved citizens and protect basic human rights.
Demanding an immediate judicial inquiry by a sitting high court judge, Stalin reiterated that the democratic fight against the current regime will not abate. He stated that no official cover-up can conceal the grave atrocities committed against unarmed citizens. Stalin assured the public that the DMK will spearhead legal and political battles until full justice is secured.
