Historical Record
In 1957 the DMK convened an anti-Hindi conference and observed 13 October as 'anti-Hindi day', sustaining the campaign against Hindi imposition that it had inherited from the Dravidian movement. These observances kept the language question central to the party's identity through the late 1950s.
