On 16 and 17 December 1961 the DMK held a Special Election Conference at Coimbatore to prepare for the 1962 general election. The two-day event was marked by speeches calling for an independent Dravida Nadu, with the slogan 'Dravida Nadu for Dravidians' heard throughout.
1962 பொதுத் தேர்தலுக்குத் தயாராக 1961 டிசம்பர் 16 மற்றும் 17 ஆகிய நாட்களில் திமுக கோயம்புத்தூரில் ஒரு சிறப்புத் தேர்தல் மாநாட்டை நடத்தியது. இரண்டு நாள் நிகழ்வு தனி திராவிட நாட்டுக்கு அழைப்பு விடுக்கும் பேச்சுகளால் குறிக்கப்பட்டது; 'திராவிடருக்குத் திராவிட நாடு' என்ற முழக்கம் எங்கும் ஒலித்தது.
Significance
Showed the Dravida Nadu demand still at the centre of DMK campaigning shortly before the 1962 election and the demand's later abandonment.
