The DMK launched year-long celebrations marking the birth centenary of M. Karunanidhi, born on 3 June 1924. The programme included a public meeting with alliance partners, the installation of Kalaignar statues across districts, seminars and the opening of Kalaignar centenary study centres.

Significance
The centenary served as a major commemoration of the DMK's longest-serving leader and reinforced the party's ideological lineage under Stalin.
