The DMK government revived the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam after taking office in 2021; the scheme had earlier run during 2006-2011. It funds comprehensive improvement of basic infrastructure such as roads, water supply, sanitation and street lighting in village panchayats in a phased manner. A second phase (AGAMT-II) was sanctioned to develop over 2,500 village panchayats at an estimated cost of more than Rs 1,148 crore.
