Cooperative Agricultural Loan Waiver Scheme

Executive Summary

The DMK government waived overdue agricultural loans owed to cooperative banks and societies, with the waiver valued at roughly Rs 7,000 crore and benefiting about 22.4 lakh farming families. Cooperative loan-waiver certificates were issued to the affected farmers. The measure was accompanied by reduced interest rates on cooperative agricultural loans.
