Executive Summary

The Government Servants' Family Benefit Fund Scheme was introduced with effect from 1 January 1974 during the second Karunanidhi government. It provides a lump-sum payment to the nominated family member when a government servant dies while in service, along with immediate funeral assistance. Over the decades the scheme has been retained and the lump-sum amount progressively enhanced.
