Tamil Nadu Manual Workers Social Security and Welfare Scheme

Executive Summary

In March 1999 the DMK government headed by M. Karunanidhi constituted the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers Social Security and Welfare Board, established on 17 March 1999, to extend welfare benefits to workers in diverse unorganised categories such as loading and unloading, the timber industry, automobile workshops, bullock-cart driving and collection of forest produce. The board provided social security cover including accident, disability and funeral assistance to registered workers, and paved the way for similar welfare boards for other groups of informal workers.

1999 மார்ச்சில் மு. கருணாநிதி தலைமையிலான திமுக அரசு, 1999 மார்ச் 17 அன்று தமிழ்நாடு கட்டடத் தொழிலாளர் சமூகப் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் நல வாரியத்தை அமைத்தது; ஏற்றுதல்-இறக்குதல், மரத் தொழில், வாகனப் பட்டறைகள், மாட்டுவண்டி ஓட்டுதல், காட்டுப் பொருள் சேகரிப்பு போன்ற பல்வேறு அமைப்புசாரா பிரிவுகளில் உள்ள தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு நல உதவிகளை வழங்குவதற்காக இது உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த வாரியம் பதிவுசெய்யப்பட்ட தொழிலாளர்களுக்கு விபத்து, ஊனம் மற்றும் இறுதிச் சடங்கு உதவி உள்ளிட்ட சமூகப் பாதுகாப்பை வழங்கியது; மேலும் பிற அமைப்புசாரா தொழிலாளர் குழுக்களுக்கான நல வாரியங்களுக்கும் வழிவகுத்தது.
