In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance won 159 of 234 seats, with the DMK alone winning 133 seats — an absolute majority. The election ended a decade of AIADMK rule and returned the DMK to power after ten years in opposition.
2021 தமிழ்நாடு சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலில், திமுக தலைமையிலான மதச்சார்பற்ற முற்போக்குக் கூட்டணி 234 இடங்களில் 159 இடங்களைக் கைப்பற்றியது; திமுக தனித்து 133 இடங்களில் வென்று தனிப்பெரும்பான்மை பெற்றது. இத்தேர்தல் ஒரு தசாப்த அதிமுக ஆட்சியை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து, பத்தாண்டு எதிர்க்கட்சி நிலைக்குப் பிறகு திமுகவை ஆட்சிக்கு மீட்டெடுத்தது.
Significance
The win was the DMK's first absolute majority in the Assembly in 25 years and marked the start of the M. K. Stalin government, the first DMK government of the post-Karunanidhi era.
