On 17 December 2021 the Tamil Nadu government formally declared Tamil Thai Vazhthu the official state song and mandated that everyone except the differently-abled stand when it is played or sung. The song is to be performed at public events in educational institutions and government offices.
17 டிசம்பர் 2021 அன்று தமிழ்நாடு அரசு தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்தை அதிகாரப்பூர்வ மாநிலப் பாடலாக முறையாக அறிவித்தது; அது இசைக்கப்படும்போது அல்லது பாடப்படும்போது மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகள் தவிர அனைவரும் எழுந்து நிற்க வேண்டும் எனக் கட்டாயமாக்கியது. கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள் மற்றும் அரசு அலுவலகங்களில் பொது நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் இப்பாடல் இசைக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.
Significance
The decision gave formal status to a long-standing emblem of Tamil identity, consistent with the DMK's emphasis on the Tamil language and culture.
