Executive Summary
Launched in October 2021, Illam Thedi Kalvi (Education at the Doorstep) provides free community-based after-school learning for schoolchildren who suffered learning loss during the COVID-19 pandemic. Local educated volunteers conduct evening classes near students' homes focusing on foundational reading, writing and mathematics. Studies found the programme substantially reduced the learning gap in rural Tamil Nadu.
2021 அக்டோபரில் தொடங்கப்பட்ட இல்லம் தேடிக் கல்வித் திட்டம், கோவிட்-19 பெருந்தொற்றின் போது கல்வி இழப்பை சந்தித்த பள்ளி மாணவர்களுக்கு பள்ளி நேரத்திற்குப் பின் இலவச சமூகக் கல்வியை வழங்குகிறது. படித்த உள்ளூர் தன்னார்வலர்கள் மாணவர்களின் வீடுகளுக்கு அருகே மாலை வகுப்புகளை நடத்தி, அடிப்படை வாசிப்பு, எழுத்து, கணிதம் ஆகியவற்றில் கவனம் செலுத்துகின்றனர். கிராமப்புற தமிழ்நாட்டில் கல்வி இடைவெளியை இத்திட்டம் கணிசமாகக் குறைத்ததாக ஆய்வுகள் கண்டறிந்தன.
